# Desktop Web UI

Next.js desktop application shells, layout composition, design tokens, shared components and responsive implementation.

Desktop SONIC uses a light-first product shell with separate marketing and authenticated application composition boundaries.

## Implementation baseline

```
Marketing
→ website header / product navigation / website footer
Authenticated app
→ sidebar
→ topbar
→ role + entitlement-aware main content
→ optional inspector/right rail
→ compact app footer
```

Do not conditionally hide one universal nav tree. Keep MarketingLayout and application/dashboard layouts structurally separate.

## Shared UI

* semantic design tokens rather than route-local colors;
* 12–16px interaction/card radii unless a product spec defines otherwise;
* black primary actions on light product surfaces;
* SONIC red reserved for selected/brand/accent states;
* keyboard navigation, visible focus and reduced motion;
* responsive reflow at tablet/mobile breakpoints;
* product data never sourced from visual fixtures.

Next.js components consume normalized SONIC domain/API abstractions rather than embedding provider-specific business logic.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://sonic-ai-works.gitbook.io/sonic-networks-docs/documentation/developers/frontend-and-design-system/desktop-web-ui.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
